Compare ethical and moral perspectives of decision-making in the context of social issues.

A social issue is a problem that affects individuals and/or groups within society, and there are almost always opposing viewpoints. Variations in ethical and moral perspectives contribute to disagreements about social issues. This week’s summative assessment focuses on CSLO 2: Compare ethical and moral perspectives of decision-making in the context of social issues.
The scenario provided this week is a continuation of the scenario presented in Week 2. You might find it helpful to review your Week 2 submission and faculty feedback before completing this assignment.
See attached for this week WK 3 to do and last weeks for comparison WK 2 theories.

[Incorporate code of ethics and standards of practice in your responses].
SELECT 5 (FIVE) TOPICS from the following:
1. The Picnic.
Assume you are Lucia’s counsellor, and she asks you to move her counselling sessions to the park. What are your thoughts? What would you tell her? What would you do, and why? [Alternative: You can also create a similar example pertaining to the counselling setting and address the ethical issues involved in this example].
2. Bartering.
Your client tells you that he or she will have to terminate counselling with you because of losing a job and the inability to pay for therapy. Your client suggests a bartering arrangement with you as a way to continue therapy. Demonstrate how you’d deal with this situation in an ethical and effective manner. What specific issues would you want to address with this client?
3. Gift Giving.
Create a BRIEF case where your client offers you a gift. What are your thoughts about accepting gifts from clients? What issues are you likely to explore with your client?
4. Sexual Attractions.
Assume that one of your clients informs you that he/she finds you sexually attractive. Show how you’d deal with this situation. What issues would you explore? What if you also found this client attractive? And what if you did not find this person attractive? In your answer, address the ethical issues involved in the situation.
5. Counselling Couples and Families.
Identify one specific area where you think you would be most challenged ethically in a therapeutic situation with either couples or a family. Discuss the situation and show how you might deal with the ethical issues involved.

7. Ethics in Multicultural Practice.
Demonstrate your understanding of the legal and ethical aspects of counselling cultural and diverse populations by providing a brief original example(s) of how you might encounter 2 or more legal and ethical issues in your work as a mental health professional. Look up the law in your province and discuss how this applies to the example. Also, look up any laws that apply to groups with special protection in the Canadian context.
8. Friendship.
Assume that one of your clients is terminating, and he or she lets you know he or she would like to begin some form of a social relationship. Explain how you’d proceed. What issues would you explore with your client?
9. Malpractice.
Identify some of the ways you will go about decreasing the chances of getting involved in a malpractice suit. Focus on your attitudes and actions that are likely to prevent you from malpractice actions. What guidance do the various codes of ethics provide for you in lessening a malpractice action?
10. Duty to Warn and to Protect.
Assume you are counselling a client that you have serious concerns about either danger to self (suicidal person) or danger to other (violent person). How do you balance your loyalty to your company with loyalty to the clients?

you can make up what ever you want and what ever sounds good but use the name BEN BRITON as the professional I interviewed. HE does freelance website design and marketing for companies.
For this assignment, you will interview someone who works in your desired profession about the ethical challenges they face. This interview can happen via email, Zoom, Skype, telephone, or another medium. It does not need to be in-person. The interview will help you better understand your dream job and apply your ethical thinking to the “real” world. This assignment has three parts.
Part 1: Interview Summary
Write a 2-3 page double spaced summary of the interview. This summary should include a descriiption of the interview (date, person, professional title), why you selected this person, questions you asked, their responses, and your reaction and analysis. You should be using information from your textbook and class discussions to help you draft possible questions for the interview. For example, during the course we will talk about loyalty, so a possible question you could ask is, “How do you balance your loyalty to your company with loyalty to the clients?” You will submit this written assignment here.
Part 2: Presentation
Second, you will create a short slide deck (approximately 5-7 slides) with a presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.) that will be shared with your classmates. This presentation should highlight the ethical challenges the professional faces during the course of their work and what you learned. Please post the presentation to the Discussion Board with a short descriiption of your interview (2-3 sentences).

Describe the constraints/challenges that physicians experience as being service providers affiliated with a Managed Care Organization.

This is a theoretical case taken from VHA Intensive Ethics Advisory Committee Training, 1998, as presented by Arthur R. Derse MD, JD. An 87-year-old woman widowed for six years, who is otherwise healthy, was visiting another city and abruptly became ill. She was seen in the emergency department of the local VA and admitted to the on-call physician. The on-call physician (who has not previously seen her) made the diagnosis of bowel obstruction arid made arrangements for a surgeon to evaluate her. The surgeon recommended surgery and obtained her consent for surgery. The surgeon expects an uneventful recovery. She is told that she will be on a ventilator for a short time after surgery. The patient tells the surgeon that is OK as long as it is for a short time. She tells the surgeon that she does not want to be dependent upon machines. She was asked upon admission whether she had an advance directive. She replied that she has a living will and a power of attorney for health care which names her daughter (who does not live in the area) as her health care agent. The patient undergoes surgery, which is successful in treating the underlying problem and does not show any malignant causes, but in the recovery room she has a cardiopulmonary arrest and is resuscitated. She is transferred to the ICU in the care of the on-call physician. The physician attempts to wean her gradually from the ventilator, but this is unsuccessful. Three days later, she has regained consciousness but is still intubated. Though she cannot speak because of the ventilator, she is able to write and asks that the tube be removed. The attending physician tells her that she is dependent upon the ventilator and the patient needs to remain on the ventilator until she can breathe on her own. She writes that she understands that she may die, but she does not want to be on machines. Her only children — a daughter and son — – have arrived. She repeats her wish to them that she wants the tube removed. She writes to her daughter that “I don’t want to die, but we all have to die sometime, and I don’t want to have to live on a machine. I know that whatever the outcome, God will take care of me.” Her daughter tells the physician that her mother is adamant that she be off of machines and she respects her mother’s wishes, even if she cannot breathe on her own. She says this is consistent with her previously expressed wishes and her religious beliefs. Her son tells the physician that he disagrees with his sister — since his mother does not have a terminal condition, he can not see why she should not be forced to put up with the ventilator until she can be weaned from it. He feels that she is being shortsighted, and she will be thankful to have been kept on the ventilator when she is finally able to be weaned. Describe the criteria for giving “legal” consent. Were all elements met in this case? In other words, did the patient demonstrate decision-making capacity? Explain. (Minimum of 1 page including in-text citations and references in proper APA format)
Based on case study above: Is this patient requesting to be euthanized or for her physician to assist in her suicide (PAS)? In your answer describe how the two terms differ. (Minimum of 2 paragraphs including in-text citations and references in proper APA format)
A managed care group may want to market their organization as being “the best” or “a leader” in providing certain services/ treatment. How can this type or marketing effect quality of care and utilization of services, hence costs? (Minimum of 2 paragraphs including in-text citations and references in proper APA format)

According to Darr, MCO enrollees can be described as either light/moderate users or heavy users. What are some of the strategies that management uses to turn “heavy” users into light/ moderate users? In your personal opinion, what positives or negatives may result? (Minimum of 2 paragraphs including in-text citations and references in proper APA format)
Describe the constraints/challenges that physicians experience as being service providers affiliated with a Managed Care Organization. (Minimum 2 paragraphs including in-text citations and references in proper APA format)
Give a very brief “real-life” example/instance where drugs/ medical treatment/services were microallocated. And give a “real-life” example of macroallocation. (Do not include the examples provided in the text.) (Minimum 1 paragraph including in-text citations and references in proper APA format)
Read the case of Karen Ann Quinlan (p. 248-249). Explain why this is a case involving medical futility. (Include in your an answer the definition of medical futility). Darr (2011, p. 218) writes, “[the] futility theory has quantitative and qualitative aspects.” What is meant by these terms? Present arguments for each as it relates to this case. (Minimum 2 paragraphs including in-text citations and references in proper APA format)

Do human beings have a natural, objective telos?

Do human beings have a natural, objective telos? According to essentialists, like Aristotle, human beings do have a purpose/function: essence precedes existence. According to existentialists, like Jean Paul Sartre, human beings have no purpose/function: existence precedes essence. Your task this week is to adjudicate this dispute. Do human beings (as a species) have a natural, objective purpose? You may write in either an Anselmian or Thomistic style. Somewhere in your post, you must engage with at least one of Aristotle’s arguments or Sartre’s arguments. 500 words (minimum).

What is the liberal argument for allowing access to abortion?

See the general instructions in the Essay Discussion Instructions section of the course menu.
Once you choose which question you’d like to write about, write your essay and post it in the discussion board and also save it as a Word document.
To create your post, click reply at the bottom of the discussion instructions.
To be able to read and respond to others’ posts, you will first need to publish your own post. Your first post is the one that will be graded–a blank post WILL be graded if it is your first post in the board. You can save your post as a draft, but it will not be published for students to view, nor will it be queued for grading until you click the Submit button. When you refresh the board, after you publish your post, it will allow you to view everyone’s posts. If you hover your cursor at the bottom of a post, the button to reply to that student’s post will appear.
Use your course texts to help you respond to the topic, and when you quote and summarize from the course texts, include information about the page reference.
You are discouraged from using additional sources. If you do choose to use an outside source, be sure to cite your source, just as you do when you use the course texts. If you use a quotation or an example from a website, cite the website’s URL and the date accessed.
Once you are ready for your classmates to read it, post the thread containing your essay. Then go to the Turnitin dropbox in Canvas and post your Word document into the dropbox. You do not need to include your response to another student in the file that you upload to Turnitin.
Finally, read your classmates’ posts. A complete assignment includes your written response to at least one essay besides your own–part of your score is based on your reply to at least one of your classmate’s posts. It should be a meaningful reply that continues the discussion, points out something good about the post, and makes a constructive suggestion for improvement.
Essay Length tips–To answer these topics completely, it takes a minimum of 350 words. Use the topic questions and the scoring rubric to see if your draft responds fully to all parts of the question. A complete thoughtful answer is more important than word count.
Topics for your Essay, Choose one
Topic 1: What is the conservative argument against abortion? What is the liberal argument for allowing access to abortion? Why is personhood such an important concept in the abortion debate? Which view do you find most plausible and why?
Topic 2: Which view of sexual behavior (conventional, liberal, or moderate) comes closest to your own perspective? What are your reasons for favoring it?
