As you revise your dissertation proposal into Chapters 1-3 of your dissertation, what steps do you need to take to make sure that all five chapters of your dissertation align with one another?
1. Identify and discuss the basic ideals and principles of American democracy and how they are applied in our republican form of government.
2. Identify the most important Supreme Court cases and executive actions and their impact on law and on our society.
For this assignment, you are to imagine you are a journalist/newspaper editor from the past. The exact time in the past depends on your choice. You are going to write a newspaper article about the impact of a third-party presidential campaign in American history. Don’t be afraid to research as far back as the 19th century. The article’s timing should be no more than a week after the final results of the election. What will you, the editor of your newspaper, say about the following?
What year is the election?
Who is the third party candidate, and for which party was he or she the presidential nominee?
What are the third-party candidate’s views of the two-party system in America?
What is the candidate’s stated agenda or platform?
How did the third-party candidate impact the political discourse during the election year?
Did he or she receive as much media coverage as the two major party candidates?
What were the final results of the election, and how did the third-party candidate do?
What role did the Electoral College play in the election, and as editor, what’s your take on whether or not the Electoral College system is consistent with the notion of “government by the people?” Explain your reasoning.
No third-party candidate has ever won the presidency, and third parties don’t hold much power at any level of government. What electoral and legislative changes might occur if a third party actually held considerable power? In other words, what would be the outcome of America transitioning from a two-party system to a multi-party system?
Describe the four phases of the resource allocation process. You need to explain the details of each phase (who, what, when, where, why).
Write a two-page paper, plus the title page and a reference page.

RESEARCH PAPER: GLOBALISM VS NATIONALISM ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Around the world, a number of nation-states are turning to various forms of populism. This is
likely a response to a growing sense that globalism and related institutions have become
destructive to national sovereignty.
For this research paper, define globalism and its counterpart, nationalism. Be sure to outline
some of their key features. Describe how globalism has spread over time and why some nations
have begun objecting to it in the last five years (e.g., Brexit, Hungary, Poland, India, etc.). Using
Yoram Hazony’s descriiption of how nations develop as a starting point, analyze where you think
populist nationalist movements might be correct or in error and why.
At least five pages, not including the cover page and bibliography.
Current APA style
At least five scholarly sources
Acceptable sources include peer-reviewed journals, law journals, government data, the
Bible, and relevant authoritative books. Other media, such as blog entries or think tank
articles, may be used sparingly.
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

Works Cited/Annotated Bibliography Assignment instructions
Works Cited/Annotated Bibliography Assignment instructions
Due: October 7th @ 11:59PM–moved back a week from date on syllabus
Clearly break your paper into two sections: Part 1 and Part 2. Labeling each section(Works Cited) (Annotated Bibliography) will help clearly define each part. There should be only 8 sources on your paper for each assignment, do not use 8 different ones for the next assignment. You will only use these 8 sources to write your paper. As always, if any questions please contact me:-)
Part 1. Identify the difference between primary, secondary and tertiary source. Using correct grammar and sentence structure, write 3-5 sentences explaining why each source is a primary, secondary or tertiary source. Cite each source correctly using CMS(Chicago Manual Style) or MLA and then explain each source. This will help you get a better understanding of your sources and give you a great jump on your thesis, your outline will then basically write itself.
Directions: Part 1 and Part 2 will be using the same eight sources. I used two examples using two different sources, book and online.
Part 1. Using the MLA or Chicago Manual Style, create a Works Cited Page/Annotated Bibliography using eight sources, made up of three to five primary, three to five secondary, and only two tertiary sources.
Example of identifying primary, secondary, tertiary sources:
Bell, Derrick. 2004. Silent Covenants: Brown v. Board of Education And The Fulfilled Hopes For Racial Reform. Oxford: University Press.
Part 1. Silent Covenants is a secondary source, even though Bell uses many primary sources through out his book. By using a mixture of court cases and research make this book an secondary source. His four decades of research into the Brown v Board of Education shows that many black schools were functioning well and not a ineffective state of public schooling. He shows that Brown actually enraged a society of people and energized its opponents.
Part 2. In part of the assignment, you will give approximately 75-150 words summary of each source. By the time you have completed this assignment, you will know exactly how you want your paper to work and will have a strong thesis in your mind. This will then help your outline really write itself for the next assignment. Do this for all eight of the same sources from above.
Question #3 – Analyze the exercise of judicial review. What is judicial review, what are its origins, and why has it remained an unquestioned power of the courts for so long? Provide some examples of notable uses of judicial review in Supreme Court history.
Note this is a Chapter 15 Question
-Write a post that fully responds to all parts of the question. Write in your own words. Support your position with proper APA citations using at least 2 resources. Please be sure that you demonstrate understanding of these resources, integrate them into your argument, and cite them properly.
Write a 2-page essay MINIMUM (double-spaced 12 font, 1-inch margins) for EACH of the TWO (2) prompts listed below. Again, this is the “C” level work. For a grade of “A” or “B” you will need
to show mastery of the reading and provide several examples to support your points. Use your textbook (I provide chapters for you, and any other sources which you use to help form your
essay). Please turn-in your responses to BOTH questions in ONE-word document. Turn-in double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12
1) Discuss the role the media plays in our political process. Provide evidence that there is a “liberal” media bias in the United States and give examples to support this conclusion. What are the types of media and which are the most influential and why? Explain the role talk radio has played in balancing
out media bias. Finally, provide the framework which the media uses to influence our opinion (ex. Filtering, slant, priming, framing, etc.). Discuss these concepts and explain the power they represent in influencing public opinion. (Chapter 7)
2) Explain why interest groups have had a profound impact on politics in the United States. Provide examples of the various interest groups and provide data to support their impact in supporting either Republican or Democratic candidates. Discuss the strategies (both inside and outside) that interest groups use in attempting to influence law makers in creating public policy. (Chapter 10)
Remember, you need to demonstrate you read the chapters in the book. Please provide in-text citation of the specific pages you used to get your information. You are also welcome (in addition to) use outside sources, but you will be graded on the evidence of your reading of the textbook and your overall analysis.
