Compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of Social Exchange Theory and Social Learning Theory.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a social science writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills related to human behavior theories, to demonstrate an ability to integrate theory in social work practice and to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of social justice in terms of equal access to resources and opportunities for everyone, especially oppressed and marginalized groups, through the lens of the Black Perspective. Understand the dimensions of diversity as the intersectionality of multiple factors.
Write 8 page paper (not including title/reference page) APA Format on two human behavior theories.
***MUST BE- Clear and detailed summary of the theories’ compatibility with social work values and ethics and their commitment to economic and social justice, especially to the principles of the Black Perspective).
-Clear and detailed summary of how the theories contribute to enhance our understanding of human behavior.
Theories: Social Exchange Theory and Social Learning TheoryThe requirements include:
1. Select and describe two theories, including the key concepts, principles and
assumptions.
2. Contrast and compare the principal concepts of each theory.
3. Compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of Social Exchange Theory and Social Learning Theory.
4. Compare and contrast Social Exchange Theory and Social Learning Theory compatibility with social work values and ethics
and their commitment to economic and social justice, especially to the principles of
the Black Perspective
5. Assess Social Exchange Theory and Social Learning Theory contribution to enhance our understanding of human behavior
Assess the theories’ contribution to social work practice. Give at least two specific
examples.
Black Perspective:
Affirmation-The Black Perspective is an affirming and profoundly liberating stance at both the individual and collective levels. It celebrates the richness, productivity and vigor of the lives of African Americans and Blacks in the U.S. and in other parts of the world. The School of Social Work is committed to imbuing social work practice and theory with this Perspective. This mission means a commitment on our part to use increasing levels of scholastic productivity and rigor, teaching effectiveness, and social work practice competence as tools to advance the contemporary Black agenda, as well as a commitment to public services, a service arena of importance to the Black community.
Strengths- Precisely because the Black Perspective is first of all an affirmation of strength, it insists on delineating ways in which that strength can be used to respond to the continuing oppression of Black people. The search for the causes, consequences and elimination of oppression is inherent in all areas of social work practice, research, and education.
Diversity- The Black Perspective is distinctive but not monolithic. Simplistic, global characterizations of Black individuals, families, groups and communities are intolerable. It is equally unacceptable to overlook the genuine cultural, economic, political and social bonds of distinctiveness that do exist. Producing social work practitioners, researchers and educators who are faithful both to the commonalities of interest and experience and to the rich and complex diversities within the Black population is a demanding educational task. Knowledge of commonalities and diversities is continually expanding. Keeping abreast of that knowledge, contributing to it, and shaping social work practice to it are prime elements of our mission.
Vivification- The Black Perspective is a positive and vivifying stance, not a negative or exclusionary one. This means that the School of Social Work has a special mission to educate Black social work practitioners, researchers and educators while at the same time providing quality professional education to all students regardless of race, creed, sex or national origin. The School’s curriculum gives primacy to Black content and, in fact, the School is a national leader in the development of social work curriculum materials that are responsive to the Black population. At the same time, the curriculum provides all of our students with a broadly- based professional preparation which gives them career flexibility and the skills to work with the diverse elements of modern American society.
Social Justice- The Black Perspective means a special sensitivity to the experiences of all oppressed and underserved groups in American society. There is no contradiction between giving primacy to the Black experience and being responsive to the perspectives and experiences of other groups who have been subjected to oppressive forces. Howard University’s heritage as a leader in the struggle for social justice places the School of Social Work in a uniquely advantageous position to work with all groups seeking equality and freedom from oppression.
Internationalization – An international dimension with a special emphasis on Africa and the Caribbean area is intrinsic to the School’s Black Perspective. The School of Social Work has a mission to educate international students for positions of direct social work practice and leadership roles in social welfare administration and policy in their home countries. A second aspect of the international dimension is our School’s commitment to developing that area of social work practice dealing with refugees and other displaced populations — both those individuals displaced within their own countries and those displaced across national borders. A final aspect of the international dimension is the School’s desire to foster in its graduates a sense of involvement and commitment to other parts of the world as an element of their professional identity. This is especially important for those areas where issues of social justice and social welfare for people of color are crucial.

Discuss how nondirective therapy directs.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a social science discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
According to the ACA Code of Ethics, the “primary responsibility of counselors is to respect the dignity and to promote the welfare of clients” (Standard A.1.a). Helping professionals also should be “aware of their own values, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors and avoid imposing values that are inconsistent with counseling goals” (Standard A.4.b). Keeping both points in mind, helping professionals must sometimes help clients make informed decisions about behavior that is harmful to themselves and, potentially, others. Whether or not to use contraception is one potential area related to sexuality counseling for which helping professionals may need to inform clients about potential risk.
Consider the following case study:
You are a helping professional working in a college counseling center. You just completed your intake evaluation session with Josiah, a 20-year-old sophomore. Josiah was mandated to attend six counseling sessions after he received a citation from the campus police for underage drinking at a party sponsored by the fraternity to which Josiah belongs.
During the intake session, Josiah was very verbal and willing to share information about his background and current experiences. He shared with you that he frequently drinks six to eight beers or other alcoholic beverages at a time, typically every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday when he “parties” with friends. He described this as normal behavior among his peer group, saying that this is “just how we unwind from all the stress of school every week.”
When you asked Josiah about his relationships and sexual behaviors, he stated that he has not had a steady partner since high school, saying, “People here just aren’t into long-term relationships.” He admitted that he typically “hooks up” with at least one or two partners each weekend, and when you asked him what he meant by that, he said, “Sex.” You asked if he uses any contraception in these sexual encounters, and he said, “No, I don’t like how they feel, so I won’t have sex if the other person would make me use one.”
You asked Josiah what his goals are for counseling and what he would like to change, and he responded, “Not much really. I like my life and have fun with all the partying we do here. I guess I need to learn to be a little more careful with my drinking since I got that police citation, but otherwise I feel really happy with my life right now and can’t think of much that I really want to work on in counseling.”
By Day 4Post by Day 4 an explanation of how you, as a helping professional, might help this student make positive, informed sexual decisions. Describe one specific strategy you might use or one example conversation you might have with him (in the form of a short dialogue) to help him change his sexual behavior. Explain why the strategy or conversation you described might be effective.

Explain potential factors that might influence whether or not a client decides to have an abortion.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a social science writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
A client facing the decision of whether or not to have an abortion is likely to consider a wide range of factors before making the final decision. This often is the case for clients regardless of whether they view themselves as generally for or against abortion (or somewhere in between), as the decision is different when considering how it applies to one’s own life.
The types of factors that can influence a client’s decisions include (but are not limited to) physical health considerations, educational background, cultural values, and predictions about short- and long-term consequences of abortion.
The Assignment (2- to 3-page paper):
Explain potential factors that might influence whether or not a client decides to have an abortion. Include short- and long-term considerations that might impact this decision.
Explain why certain factors might have a stronger impact on a client’s decision regarding abortion depending on the client’s background (e.g., age, gender, religion, socioeconomic status).

Describe an evidence-based intervention for the stress or adjustment issue you selected, and explain why this intervention is appropriate.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a social science writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Assignment: Interventions
Selecting the appropriate intervention for children or adolescents with a stress or adjustment issue greatly depends upon their needs. Consider the following scenario:
Tanya is an 8-year-old girl who was in a severe car accident and sustained multiple lacerations on her face. She endured 6 hours of surgery to remove glass shards from her left eye and received 42 stitches from the left side of her chin to her forehead. Tanya’s surgery left her face disfigured. She spent 8 weeks recovering in the hospital.
Upon her release from the hospital, Tanya’s mother took her to a local ice cream store to celebrate her release. While Tanya enjoyed her ice cream, she suddenly felt as though everyone was staring at her. She observed a teenage girl looking at her and whispering to another friend. She overheard a young child ask her mother, “What’s wrong with her?” Tanya felt ugly and self-conscious because of her scars and she began to cry. Her mother tried to console her daughter but felt it was to no avail. As a counselor, how might you help Tanya adjust to her new face, tap into her resilience, and engage in social situations confidently?
Consider what type of intervention or setting would be most appropriate for Tanya. Is she likely to benefit from individual counseling or from a group setting with other children with similar issues? No matter what intervention you deem appropriate, as a clinician you must confidently convey to children or adolescents that with support and guidance, they can resolve their stress or adjustment issues.
For this Assignment, conduct an Internet search or a Walden Library search for at least one peer-reviewed article that presents evidence-based interventions that support stress or adjustment issues for children and adolescents. Then, select an intervention you might use for the stress or adjustment issue you selected in the Discussion.
The Assignment (2–3 pages):
Describe an evidence-based intervention for the stress or adjustment issue you selected, and explain why this intervention is appropriate.
Explain one way you might address one culture, family, or social factor in your intervention and how.
Describe two ways you might educate and/or support the parents/guardians as they try to help their child or adolescent through the stress or adjustment issue. Be specific.
Use the week’s resources and the current literature to support your response.
Support your Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are asked to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the week’s resources for this course.

Chapters # 7 – 9
OVERVIEW
The topic of Chapter 7 is an introduction to real estate principles. This chapter covers four important concepts for the real estate student. First, the real estate licensing in California is discussed, along with the real estate market. Second, the historical influence of real property is examined. Third, the difference between real property and personal property is spelled out clearly. And last, the chapter concludes by analyzing various methods of land description. These concepts are important because they may be on the real estate exam for licensees.
KEY CONCEPT FROM CHAPTER 7
I learned that real estate can be a profitable professional (p. 4). One of the reasons it can be profitable is because the compensation to agents is based on the sales price of the house. In California, real estate values are typically high, which translates into a high commission. The commission is always paid to the broker, but the real estate salesperson receives a portion. Many real estate agents are using social media to promote their services.
KEY CONCEPT FROM CHAPTER 8
The second thing I learned is that property owners have a “bundle of rights” (p. 5). It means they have control of certain things because they own the real estate. Generally, people view it as a bundle of sticks, with each one of them being a “right” the owner has. Their types of rights vary based on their level of ownership. For example, homeowners have the right to possess (live in) their houses – unless they rent out the house to tenants. In that case, the tenant now has the right to possess the house.
KEY CONCEPT FROM CHAPTER 9
The third concept I learned is the definition of real property (p. 6). There are four things that define real property: land, affixed to the land, appurtenant to the land, or immovable. These items “tests” are what separates real property from personal property. For example, a refrigerator can be moved out of the house, so it is considered personal property. However, a fence is permanently dug into the ground so it becomes part of the real property, along with the land and the house.
SUMMARY
This was an interesting chapter and I learned a lot about real estate. Real estate has a long and colorful history in California. There are several types of land description methods, which will probably be on the state real estate exam. I know I will have to study some of the concepts further, such as the MARIA acronym of determining personal versus real property. In addition to the knowledge of concepts, real estate involves math calculations.
